Canadian Rockies

Posted by Shek on August 23rd, 2010

The Canadian Rockies are incredible.  The route that we took, from Calgary and Banff to Lake Louise, Mt. Robson Provincial Park and then back to Calgary through Jasper, was stunningly beautiful.  And I never knew that Calgary was such a fun town.  It’s worth a visit!

Summer storms

Today I had to drive through a couple storms to complete a project.  It was exciting at times.

An early morning walk at Afton State Park is a great way to start the day!

Changes

Posted by Shek on July 14th, 2010

Three changes I’ve enjoyed this spring/early summer involve two back-to-back instances where I saw both sunset and sunrise while at work, a new(er) car, and a fantastic new lens for my camera.

Winter 2010

For the first time in several winters Minnesotans finally had enough consistent snow and cold to enjoy winter.  Even though the legislative session was brutal, I was still able to get out and play!

I didn’t have enough time to update my New York photos pool until now, so here are some highlights from the rest of the trip.

New York City

Posted by Shek on October 15th, 2009

Four days in New York City doesn’t seem like quite enough to see anything more than the highlights and that’s what I’ve been doing.  This is a taste of what will make for fun and unique trips in the future.

Quick trip to Washington

Posted by Shek on October 13th, 2009

A quick weekend in Washington, DC was, as usually happens, a whirlwind of people and unexpected outings.  It was a blast!  As I write this, I’m riding to New York City on a Bolt-Bus using the on-board wifi.  I love practical applications of technology.

Glacier National Park trip

Posted by Shek on August 18th, 2009

After a 5 day backpacking trip through the back country in Glacier National Park it dawned on me that I had never before said WOW so frequently in such a short period of time.  Entering the park through Canada’s Waterton Park and then backpacking from Goat Haunt over the Stoney Indian Pass and through the Ptarmigan tunnel to Many Glacier was a spectacular way to see a precious gem in the Rocky Mountains.  If you can prepare yourself to possibly confront a grizzly bear, then this trip is worth doing.

Mississippi River paddle #2

Posted by Shek on July 27th, 2009

Paddling 70 miles in three days on the Mississippi, from St. Cloud to Minneapolis, was a sublime way to see an increasingly more urbanized river.
