During 2008 my friend Kyle did not eat french fries.  As a re-introduction to the food he decided to bike around Minneapolis and St. Paul for a sampling of the best fries offered in the Twin Cities.  Ed Kohler and I joined him on the 20 mile, nine hour trek.  While we didn’t get to some venues that should have been on the list, there was a limit to the number of fries we could eat.

Enduring wind chills on the way to St Paul was worse than riding through sleet and snow on the way back to Minneapolis, especially because on the return trip we made our way onto dedicated bike paths.

Ed Kohler has some great photos on his site as well.

I’m pretty sure we gained weight on this venture.

[...] What was Fry-Day? A bike tour to some of the Twin Cities’ finest French Fries. Participants were Kyle, Brian Shekleton, and myself. Others participated in parts of the tour, although only the three of us biked and hit all the stops. (Click here for Brian’s report.) [...]

You may be right, the exercise may not have been greater than the caloric intake. But it still was fun!

Next year I want more than a ten minute warning…although, truth be told, I was home by 3pm and staring at the first freezing mist and wondering ‘how crazy would I have to be to ride my bike over to lowertown in this weather?’ I coulda been a contender!

Ah, regrets….
Next year man!

I thought you guys were nuts. Looks like a ton of fun.

Aaron, as you know one doesn’t preclude the other.

Something to say?
